SEE ALSO...

IDS Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IDS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IDS (B-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IDS protein, also known as Iduronate 2-sulfatase or SIDS, is a 550 amino acid enzyme localized primarily in the lysosome, where IDS plays a crucial role in the degradation of glycosaminoglycans such as dermatan sulfate and heparan sulfate. This enzymatic function is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of these complex carbohydrates, which can lead to cellular dysfunction. Mutations in IDS gene result in mucopolysaccharidosis type 2 (MPS2), commonly referred to as Hunter syndrome, a serious condition characterized by skeletal deformities, organ enlargement, progressive cardiopulmonary issues, and neurological impairment. Notably, IDS exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, which may have implications for functional diversity and regulation within different tissues.

What blocking solution should I use with IDS (B-5): sc-365047 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
