    SEE ALSO...

HTLV-2 p19 Antibody (11D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HTLV-2 p19 protein of HTLV-2 origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). HTLV-2 p19 (11D1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HTLV-2 p19 protein plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle as a major core protein encoded by the gag gene, which is essential for the assembly and release of viral particles. Understanding p19 function is important because p19 not only aids in virus identification but also serves as a target for serological discrimination between HTLV-1 and HTLV-2, which is vital for accurate diagnosis and treatment of associated diseases. Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) is a single-stranded RNA retrovirus linked to T cell leukemia and lymphoma in adults, as well as certain demyelinating diseases. While HTLV-1 is more widely studied due to its association with various diseases, HTLV-2 shares approximately 70% genomic homology with HTLV-1 and has been implicated in cases of myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP)-like neurological disorders. The differential antibody responsiveness to p19 gag protein can provide insights into the pathogenesis of these viruses and their clinical implications.
