HSV-2 gE Antibody (E10b) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HSV-2 gE protein of HSV-2 origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-HSV-2 gE antibody (E10b) plays a critical role in understanding the mechanisms of viral entry and spread, as HSV-2 gE protein is a key component of the virus′s envelope glycoproteins, which facilitate membrane fusion. This process is essential for the herpes simplex virus′s ability to infect host cells and propagate within the host. HSV-2 gE protein, in conjunction with gI, forms a heterodimer that is instrumental in the cell-to-cell spread of the virus, effectively directing virions to cell junctions where they can interact with cellular receptors. This interaction is particularly important in neuronal cells, where the gE/gI complex is vital for the dissemination of the virus within the nervous system. Additionally, HSV-2 gE protein is involved in the sorting and transport of viral components to axon tips, which is crucial for the establishment of latency and reactivation of the virus. Using HSV-2 gE monoclonal antibody (E10b) in research can provide valuable insights into the viral lifecycle and potential therapeutic targets for controlling HSV-2 infections.
