SEE ALSO...

HR Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-HR antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HR protein, also known as Hairless, is a 1,189 amino acid protein that exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, with isoform 1 being more prevalent than isoform 2. These isoforms are expressed in various tissues at different concentrations; for instance, isoform 1 is found at low levels in the kidneys and testis, while isoform 2 is predominantly expressed in the skin. Both isoforms are co-expressed in several tissues, with strong expression in the small intestine and brain, and weak expression in the trachea. HR plays a crucial role as a transcription factor in the regulation of hair growth, which occurs in three distinct phases: anagen (growth), catagen (regression), and telogen (rest). Although the exact mechanisms remain unclear, HR influences one of these hair growth phases and collaborates with the vitamin D receptor to regulate hair follicle cycling. Deficiencies in HR can lead to severe conditions such as alopecia universalis congenita and atrichia with papular lesions, both of which are autosomal recessive disorders. Alopecia universalis congenita is characterized by the absence of hair follicles, while atrichia with papular lesions presents with papular lesions covering the body and minimal to no hair growth.
