HPA1 Antibody (4D7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects heparanase 1 (HPA1) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HPA1 plays a crucial role in degrading heparan sulfate side chains of heparan sulfate proteoglycans, which are vital components of the extracellular matrix. This degradation facilitates the extravasation of blood-borne tumor cells and inflammatory leukocytes, contributing to tumor metastasis and inflammation. HPA1 undergoes proteolytic processing at the cell surface, generating an active form that induces angiogenesis and promotes tumor vascularization. HPA1′s ability to release growth factors and cytokines upon degradation stimulates cell proliferation and chemotaxis. Fibroblasts endocytose extracellular HPA1, leading to cytoplasmic accumulation, which may influence cellular signaling and tumor biology. The gene encoding human HPA1 is located on chromosome 4q21.3, highlighting genetic significance in various biological processes.
