Homer-3 Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Homer-3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Homer-3 is a crucial member of the Homer family of proteins, which are immediate early gene products that play a significant role in synaptic signaling by binding to group 1 metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs). These receptors are essential for triggering intracellular calcium release, a process vital for various neuronal functions, including synaptic plasticity and memory formation. Unlike Homer-1a, which is transiently expressed and does not multimerize, Homer-3 is constitutively expressed and features a coiled-coil domain that facilitates self-multimerization, thereby enhancing Homer-3′s ability to form complexes with mGluRs and other signaling proteins. This multimerization is important as Homer-3 effectively links mGluRs with inositol triphosphate receptors (IP3R), thereby influencing calcium signaling pathways that are critical for neuronal communication and plasticity. Homer-3 (E-6) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the intricate mechanisms of synaptic transmission and the role of Homer proteins in neurobiology.
