    SEE ALSO...

Homer-3 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Homer-3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Homer-3 (E-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Homer-3 protein plays a crucial role in synaptic signaling by binding to group 1 metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs), which are essential for mediating intracellular calcium release and synaptic plasticity. This function is particularly important in learning and memory, as mGluRs are involved in long-term potentiation (LTP), a process that strengthens synapses based on recent patterns of activity. Unlike Homer-1a, which is transiently expressed and inhibits multimerization of other Homer proteins, Homer-3 is constitutively expressed and contains a coiled-coil domain that facilitates self-multimerization, thereby enhancing binding capacity to link mGluRs with inositol triphosphate receptors (IP3R). This interaction is vital for regulating calcium signaling pathways, making Homer-3 a significant player in neuronal communication and plasticity.

I am using Homer-3 (E-2): sc-376154 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

    Asked by: jenniferc
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
