Hog1 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Hog1 in yeast species by applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Hog1, also known as Ssk3, plays a crucial role in the osmotic stress response of yeast cells, functioning as a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) that transmits signals from the environment to the cell′s interior. Upon exposure to high external osmolarity, Hog1 is activated through a cascade involving the MAPKK Pbs2, which is essential for the regulation of osmo-adaptive responses. The activation of Hog1 leads to the modulation of transcription factors that enhance the expression of osmo-regulatory proteins, thereby enabling yeast cells to maintain their internal osmolarity and survive in fluctuating environmental conditions. Anti-Hog1 antibody (A-8) serves as a valuable tool for researchers studying stress responses and signal transduction in yeast through interactions with various upstream regulatory kinases and downstream transcription factors.
