HLF Antibody (4D8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects HLF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-HLF antibody (4D8) is available as the non-conjugated form. HLF protein, or hepatic leukemia factor, is a 295 amino acid nuclear protein predominantly expressed in the liver, with lower expression levels found in the lung and kidney. As a member of the bZIP family and the PAR (proline and acidic-rich) subfamily of transcription regulatory proteins, HLF (4D8) antibody recognizes a crucial factor in gene regulation that binds to DNA as either a homodimer or a heterodimer with other PAR factors. HLF protein′s ability to form dimers is essential for function, allowing precise regulation of target genes involved in various cellular processes, including cell survival and differentiation. Notably, chromosomal translocations that fuse portions of the HLF gene with the E2A gene are implicated in a subset of childhood B-lineage acute lymphoid leukemias, highlighting HLF′s importance in oncogenic processes. The E2A-HLF chimeric fusion protein acts as a potent trans-activator, activating SLUG, a mammalian homologue of the cell death specification protein ces-1 in Caenorhabditis elegans, which regulates an evolutionarily conserved cell survival program. HLF is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes more than 1,200 genes, underscoring its significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
