SEE ALSO...

HERP Antibody (19-Y) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HERP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-HERP antibody (19-Y) is available as the non-conjugated form. HERP protein, also known as HERPUD1 (homocysteine-inducible, endoplasmic reticulum stress-inducible, ubiquitin-like domain member 1), plays a crucial role in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. This 391 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein is primarily localized to the ER, where HERP (19-Y) monoclonal antibody is involved in the degradation of misfolded proteins through the ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD) system. The presence of an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain in HERP suggests involvement in tagging these misfolded proteins for destruction, thereby preventing the accumulation of potentially toxic proteins that can disrupt cellular function. HERP is widely expressed, with highest levels found in the brain, and exists in three isoforms due to alternative splicing events, which may contribute to functional diversity in different tissues. Using HERP (19-Y) antibody in research can provide insights into the mechanisms of ER stress and implications in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and metabolic syndromes.

Can sc-100721: HERP (19-Y) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100721: HERP (19-Y) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
