hCAP-G Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects hCAP-G protein of human origin, Ncapg protein of mouse origin, and the corresponding rat homolog by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-hCAP-G antibody (B-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. hCAP-G protein, also known as condensin complex subunit 3, is a crucial 1,015 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene NCAPG and belongs to the CND3 family, characterized by the presence of ten HEAT repeats. hCAP-G protein plays a vital role as a regulatory subunit of the condensin complex, which is essential for transforming interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condensed chromosomes. The condensin complex introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA in the presence of type I topoisomerases and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms with type II topoisomerases. In interphase cells, most of the condensin complex resides in the cytoplasm, with a smaller fraction associated with chromatin, while a subpopulation remains linked to chromosome foci. During mitosis, the condensin complex predominantly associates with chromatin, and at prophase onset, regulatory subunits undergo phosphorylation by CDC2, facilitating condensin association with chromosome arms and promoting chromosome condensation. Dissociation from chromosomes occurs in late telophase, highlighting hCAP-G′s dynamic role in cell division and importance in maintaining genomic stability.
