Haptoglobin β Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Haptoglobin beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Haptoglobin β (F-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Haptoglobin, a crucial blood plasma protein, plays a vital role in binding free hemoglobin released from erythrocytes, thereby preventing oxidative damage and sequestering iron to inhibit bacterial growth during hemolysis. This protective function is particularly important in inflammatory responses, as elevated Haptoglobin levels can indicate inflammation and assist in the clearance of the Haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex by the reticulo-endothelial system. Structurally, Haptoglobin is composed of two alpha and two beta chains linked by disulfide bridges, resulting from the cleavage of a common precursor protein during synthesis. In humans, Haptoglobin exists in two allelic forms, Haptoglobin 1 (Hp1) and Haptoglobin 2 (Hp2), with Hp2 arising from a partial gene duplication of Hp1. The three known phenotypes—Hp1-1, Hp2-1, and Hp2-2—are associated with various health conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and susceptibility to neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson′s disease and inflammatory conditions such as Crohn′s disease. Additionally, Haptoglobin is expressed in mammalian hepatocytes and other tissues, including skin, lung, and kidney, making Haptoglobin a valuable biomarker for diagnosing hemolytic anemia and understanding various pathological states.
