HADHB Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HADHB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HADHB (E-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HADHB protein, also known as Trifunctional enzyme subunit beta (mitochondrial) and Acetyl-CoA acyltransferase, is a crucial 474 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene HADHB. HADHB protein plays a vital role in mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation, functioning as part of a larger trifunctional protein complex that catalyzes the breakdown of long-chain fatty acids into acetyl-CoA, which is essential for energy production. HADHB protein is located in the mitochondrion, forming an octameric structure composed of four alpha (HADHA) and four beta (HADHB) subunits, which is critical for enzymatic activity and stability. Deficiencies in HADHB can lead to trifunctional protein deficiency, a condition characterized by hypoglycemia, cardiomyopathy, and sudden death, highlighting the importance of HADHB protein in metabolic health. Biochemically, trifunctional protein deficiency is defined by the loss of all three enzyme activities of the trifunctional protein complex, underscoring the significance of HADHB in maintaining proper metabolic function.

Can HADHB (E-1): sc-271495 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. Yes, HADHB (E-1): sc-271495 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
