GSTO1 Antibody (21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GSTO1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GSTO1 antibody (21) is available as a non-conjugated format. GSTO1, also known as glutathione S-transferase omega 1, p28, or GSTTLp28, is a 241 amino acid protein primarily located in the cytoplasm and features both an N-terminal and a C-terminal GST domain. GSTO1 is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in the heart, liver, and skeletal muscle, and functions as a homodimer. GSTO1 plays a crucial role in cellular detoxification processes, acting as a glutathione-dependent thiol transferase and a dehydroascorbate reductase. GSTO1 catalyzes the conjugation of glutathione to a diverse range of organic compounds, forming thioethers vital for the metabolism and detoxification of xenobiotics and carcinogens. Human GSTO1 shares approximately 70% sequence homology with its rodent counterpart, indicating a conserved functional role across species. Genetic polymorphisms in GSTO1 have been linked to increased risk of developing childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, as well as neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson′s disease and Alzheimer′s disease, highlighting GSTO1′s significance in both health and disease.
