SEE ALSO...

GSTA1 Antibody (R-14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GSTA1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GSTA1 antibody (R-14) is available as the non-conjugated format. GSTA1, a member of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) family, plays a crucial role in detoxifying xenobiotics, protecting cells from damage caused by toxic substances. GSTA1 is predominantly expressed in liver, lung, and kidney tissues, where GSTA1 helps mitigate the effects of environmental toxins and oxidative stress. GSTA1 is involved in conjugating harmful compounds, facilitating their excretion and reducing cellular toxicity. GSTA1′s structure includes a C-terminal domain contributing to the hydrophobic substrate-binding site, essential for enzymatic function, although GSTA1 does not directly bind glutathione. This structural feature allows GSTA1 to effectively interact with various substrates, enhancing GSTA1′s protective role in cellular defense mechanisms. The oncoprotein Myb transcriptionally upregulates GSTM1, another isoform of the GST family, highlighting the interconnectedness of these proteins in response to cellular stressors.

Can sc-100546: GSTA1 (R-14) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100546: GSTA1 (R-14) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
