    SEE ALSO...

GPx-5 Antibody (D-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GPx-5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GPx-5 Antibody (D-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GPx-5 protein, also known as Epididymis-Specific Glutathione Peroxidase-Like Protein, plays a crucial role in the male reproductive system, particularly in protecting sperm from oxidative damage. Located in the acrosome of sperm, GPx-5 is unique among glutathione peroxidases as GPx-5 is selenium-independent, which allows for function in environments where selenium is limited. This localization is vital for maintaining sperm integrity and function during maturation in the epididymis, thereby contributing to male fertility. GPx-5 helps prevent premature acrosome reactions, which can lead to reduced sperm viability and fertility issues. Understanding GPx-5′s role in sperm maturation and protection against oxidative stress is essential for advancing reproductive health research and developing potential therapeutic strategies for male infertility.

Can GPx-5 (D-3): sc-390092 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, GPx-5 (D-3): sc-390092 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
