GPx-4 Antibody (D-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPx-4) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GPx-4 is a unique member of the glutathione peroxidase family, notable for its ability to reduce lipid hydroperoxides and protect cells from oxidative damage, which is crucial for maintaining cellular integrity and function. Unlike other GPx isoforms, GPx-4 is primarily localized in the mitochondria and is essential for protecting sperm cells from oxidative stress during their maturation in the epididymis. This localization is significant because GPx-4 safeguards cellular components from reactive oxygen species, thereby preventing lipid peroxidation and ensuring proper cellular function. Additionally, GPx-4 forms high molecular weight oligomers, which may enhance protective capabilities against oxidative damage. Anti-GPx-4 antibody (D-3) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying oxidative stress responses and GPx-4′s role in various physiological and pathological processes.
