    SEE ALSO...

GPIHBP1 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects GPIHBP1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GPIHBP1 is a crucial protein located in the capillary endothelial cells, where GPIHBP1 plays a vital role in the transport and processing of chylomicrons, which are large lipoprotein particles responsible for carrying dietary lipids from the intestines to various tissues in the body. This single-pass membrane protein, consisting of 184 amino acids, serves as a platform for lipoprotein lipase (LPL) to hydrolyze triglycerides in chylomicrons, primarily in heart, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue. The proper functioning of GPIHBP1 is essential for lipid metabolism, and GPIHBP1 regulation can be influenced by dietary factors and the transcription factor PPARγ. Importantly, mutations in the gene encoding GPIHBP1 are associated with chylomicronemia syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by LPL deficiency, leading to severe complications such as enlarged liver and spleen, pancreatitis, and abnormal lipid deposits in various tissues, including the retina. Anti-GPIHBP1 antibody (B-5) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related disorders, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions.
