GPAM Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GPAM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GPAM (D-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GPAM protein, also known as glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase, mitochondrial, GPAT1, or KIAA1560, is an 828 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein primarily located in the outer membrane of mitochondria, playing a crucial role in phospholipid metabolism. Specifically, GPAM catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step in glycerolipid biosynthesis, converting Acyl-CoA and sn-glycerol 3-phosphate into CoA and 1-acyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphate. This enzymatic activity maintains cellular levels of triacylglycerol and phospholipids, which are essential for membrane integrity and energy storage. The gene encoding GPAM is located on human chromosome 10, a region containing over 1,200 genes and representing nearly 4.5% of the human genome. Mutations in genes on this chromosome have been linked to various genetic disorders, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, highlighting GPAM′s importance in cellular function and human health.
