Glycophorin C/D Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Glycophorin C/D protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Glycophorin C/D antibody (F-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glycophorin C and D are integral membrane sialoglycoproteins found on the surface of human erythrocytes, playing a crucial role in defining blood group phenotypes through their antigenic determinants. Glycophorin C, encoded by a gene located on chromosome 2q14.3, can produce two isoforms through alternative splicing. Isoform 1 consists of all four exons and encodes a full-length protein of 128 amino acids, while isoform 2, known as Glycophorin D, lacks exon 2 and encodes a shorter 109 amino acid protein associated with the Yus subtype of the Gerbich phenotype.
