Glycophorin C Antibody (E5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Glycophorin C protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Glycophorin C antibody (E5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glycophorin C is a crucial sialoglycoprotein located in the human erythrocyte membrane, where Glycophorin C plays a significant role in defining blood group phenotypes through antigenic determinants. Specifically, Glycophorin C interacts with other glycophorins, such as Glycophorin A and B, which are present on the erythrocyte surface and contribute to the MN, Ss, and Gerbich blood group systems. The presence of these glycophorins is essential for proper blood typing and transfusion compatibility, as variations in their expression can lead to different blood group phenotypes. The Glycophorin C gene, located on chromosome 2q14.3, produces two protein isoforms, with the full-length isoform consisting of 128 amino acids, while the shorter isoform, Glycophorin D, is associated with the Yus subtype of the Gerbich phenotype. Glycophorin C antibody (E5) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying erythrocyte biology, blood group genetics, and related clinical applications.
