Glut3 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Glut3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Glut3 antibody (B-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glut3 plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism, particularly in the brain, where Glut3 facilitates glucose uptake as the primary energy source for neurons. Glut3 expression remains particularly high in neuronal tissues, ensuring efficient glucose absorption even under low blood sugar conditions. This characteristic maintains brain health and function, especially during periods of fasting or intense neuronal activity. Glut3′s ability to transport glucose across the blood-brain barrier further underscores Glut3′s importance in neuroenergetics and overall metabolic homeostasis.

I would like to use Glut3 (B-6)): sc-74497 for double staining with another mouse monoclonal primary antibody. Is this possible?

Thank you for your question. In cases like this, we recommend using our directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibodies. Currently, sc-74497 is not available directly conjugated, but we have an alternative Glut3 antibody (sc-74399) that is available conjugated to agarose, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488 and Alexa Fluor® 647. I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with Glut3 (B-6): sc-74497?

We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works on neurons and GSCThis antibody detects GLUT3 by immunofluorescence in neurons from primary culture and glioblastoma stem cells with an immersion objective (63x). The signal is not very strong but it is certainly distinguishable from the background, and protein localization is correct. In WB, it detects a band at aprox. 55 kDa if incubated overnight at dilution 1:200.
