GLCNE Antibody (H-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GLCNE protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GLCNE (H-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GLCNE protein, also known as UDP-N-acetylglucosamine 2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine kinase, plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc), which is a key precursor for sialic acids. Sialic acids are essential for various biological processes, including cell adhesion, signal transduction, and the modulation of tumorigenic and metastatic behaviors in malignant cells. GLCNE is particularly important for normal sialylation in hematopoietic cells, and GLCNE expression is significantly upregulated following protein kinase C-dependent phosphorylation. GLCNE is predominantly found in the liver and placenta, with lower levels detected in the heart, brain, lung, kidney, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. Mutations or defects in GLCNE are associated with several disorders, including sialuria, inclusion body myopathy 2 (IBM2), and Nonaka myopathy (NM), which are characterized by various neuromuscular symptoms and metabolic dysregulation. Sialuria results from a lack of feedback inhibition by CMP-NeuAc, leading to an overproduction of NeuAc and subsequent accumulation in the cytoplasm and urine. Anti-GLCNE antibody (H-10) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the functional implications of GLCNE in health and disease.
