GlcNAc kinase Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GlcNAc kinase protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GlcNAc kinase antibody (G-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GlcNAc kinase, also referred to as GNK or N-acetylglucosamine kinase, is a 344 amino acid homodimeric protein that plays a crucial role in amino sugar metabolism, converting N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) into GlcNAc 6-phosphate, which is essential for the synthesis of glycoproteins and glycolipids. This enzymatic activity allows cells to utilize GlcNAc derived from lysosomal degradation or dietary sources, thereby contributing to cellular energy metabolism and maintaining glycan structures. GlcNAc kinase also exhibits ManNAc kinase activity, highlighting a potential role in metabolizing sialic acid precursors. Production of beta anomer phosphorylated sugars by GlcNAc kinase underscores significance in regulating key metabolite availability for various cellular functions.
