    SEE ALSO...

GK1 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GK1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GK1 (E-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GK1, a 559 amino acid mitochondrial peripheral membrane protein, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism as a key enzyme in the glycerol kinase family, catalyzing the phosphorylation of glycerol to form glycerol phosphate. This reaction is vital as glycerol phosphate serves as an important intermediate that can be converted into dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP), a critical substrate for both glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. The regulation of glycerol uptake and metabolism by GK1 is essential for maintaining energy homeostasis, and mutations in the GK gene can lead to glycerol kinase deficiency, which is associated with serious health issues such as hyperglycerolemia, psychomotor retardation, and osteoporosis. GK1 exhibits high expression levels in the kidney, testis, and liver, and exists in three isoforms due to alternative splicing, highlighting functional diversity and importance in various physiological processes.

can this be used for cows?

    Asked by: tjtest123
Thank you for your question. This antibody does not yet have data or product citations in cows (bovine) and so it is not a recommended species at this time.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398385 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
