SEE ALSO...

GILZ Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GILZ protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GILZ (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The glucocorticoid-induced leucine zipper (GILZ) protein plays a crucial role in mediating the immunosuppressive effects of glucocorticoid hormones, particularly in T cells, where GILZ expression is induced by dexamethasone. GILZ is primarily expressed in normal lymphocytes found in the thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes, while GILZ is absent in non-lymphoid tissues such as the brain, liver, and kidney. This specific localization is significant as GILZ′s role in immune regulation highlights potential therapeutic targeting in conditions characterized by excessive immune responses. GILZ protects T cells from apoptosis induced by anti-CD3 antibodies by inhibiting the expression of Fas and Fas ligand, and GILZ also interferes with various transcription factors, including Egr-2, Egr-3, and NFAT/AP-1. Notably, GILZ′s interaction with c-Fos and c-Jun inhibits the binding of active AP-1 to its DNA consensus site, while GILZ binding to NFkB subunits prevents their nuclear translocation, further underscoring GILZ′s importance in modulating immune responses. The gene encoding human GILZ is located on chromosome Xq22.3, making GILZ a critical component in understanding immune function and potential therapeutic interventions.
