SEE ALSO...

GGT1 Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GGT1 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GGT1 (F-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GGT1, also known as gamma-glutamyltransferase 1, plays a crucial role in glutathione metabolism, acting as a glutathionase that catalyzes the transfer of glutamyl moiety from glutathione to various amino acids and dipeptide acceptors. This enzymatic activity maintains cellular redox balance and facilitates detoxification of harmful compounds. GGT1 is predominantly located on the outer surface of cell membranes and is widely distributed across mammalian tissues, particularly in the liver, where activity significantly increases in certain liver diseases. GGT1 release into the bloodstream following liver damage makes this protein a potential early biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma. While GGT5 converts leukotriene C4 to leukotriene D4, GGT5 does not act on synthetic substrates typically used in GGT assays. In human serum and tissues, GGT1 exhibits marked heterogeneity, attributed to variations in glycosylation rather than differences in gene products.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-374495 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
