GGT1 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects human GGT1 by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GGT1 Antibody (E-5) is available in non-conjugated form and various conjugates, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® options. GGT1, or gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase, plays a crucial role in glutathione metabolism by acting as a glutathionase that transfers glutamyl moiety from glutathione to various amino acids and dipeptide acceptors. This enzymatic activity maintains cellular redox balance and detoxifies harmful compounds, making GGT1 essential for cellular defense mechanisms. GGT1 primarily resides on the outer cell membrane surface and appears across mammalian tissues, especially in the liver, where activity increases during certain liver diseases. GGT1 enters the bloodstream following liver damage, and elevated levels serve as an early biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma. While GGT5 converts leukotriene C4 to leukotriene D4, GGT5 doesn′t act on synthetic substrates used in GGT assays, highlighting GGT1′s specific role. In human serum and tissues, GGT1 shows significant heterogeneity due to different glycosylation patterns rather than gene product variations, emphasizing GGT1′s complex role in health and disease.
