SEE ALSO...

GFRα-1 Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GFRα-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GFRα-1 (E-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GFRα-1 plays a crucial role in neuronal survival and differentiation, primarily functioning as a receptor for glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and neurturin (NTN), which are essential for maintaining both central and peripheral neurons. GFRα-1 is located on the cell membrane, where a glycosyl-phosphoinositol linkage enables interaction with ligands and subsequent activation of tyrosine kinase Ret, leading to downstream signaling pathways that promote neuronal health. GFRα-1′s significance in neurotrophic signaling highlights potential therapeutic applications in neurodegenerative diseases, making anti-GFRα-1 antibody (E-11) an invaluable tool for studying neuronal function and survival mechanisms.

The size of the GFRA1 protein shown in your company's antibody display result diagram is much larger than the predicted protein size by about 50kDa. How to explain it?

Asked by: ninijo
Thank you for your question. A large molecular weight may indicate glycosylated GFRa-1.

I would like to know if there are any antibodies against GFR alpha available with avian reactivity. Thanks in advance.

Asked by: GNSL
Thank you for your question. We do not currently recommend any of our GFRalpha-1 antibodies for use in avian samples. However, we haven't tested them for reactivity in that species. Please contact our Technical Service Department and we could help you perform sequence analysis to predict potential cross-reactivity with our antibodies and your avian species of interest.

Do this antibody(E-11) stain phospho-form of GFRa-1 receptor?

Asked by: clear46
Thank you for your question. This antibody does not distinguish between the phosphylated and non-phophorylated form on the protein, and will stain whichever form is present in the sample.

We would like to know what it means the E-11 in the antibody name. Thank you

Asked by: trubilar
Thank you for your question. The "(E-11)" is the internal clone designation for this mouse monoclonal, GFRα-1 Antibody (E-11): sc-271546. It does not have any specific meaning, other than to be a unique identifier for this particular clone.

I am using GFRα-1 (E-11): sc-271546 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unsuccessful detection of GFRa1 by WB or IFThe antibody was unable to detect GFRa1 in western blots of whole cell lysates of HeLa cells transfected with GFRa1, or SH-SY5Y cells (with endogenous GFRa1 expression). The recommended 1:1000 dilution was used. Background bands of incorrect size appeared in all lanes, including negative controls. Immunofluorescence of SH-SY5Y cells, or HeLa cells transfected with GFRa1 resulted in off-target effects, high background, and no detectable GFRa1. The recommended 1:50 dilution was used.
