SEE ALSO...

GFAT1 Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GFAT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GFAT1 (D-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glutamine:fructose-6-phosphate amidotransferase (GFAT1) plays a crucial role as the first and rate-limiting enzyme in the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway, which is essential for the synthesis of glycoproteins and glycolipids that are vital for cellular functions. GFAT1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where GFAT1 catalyzes the conversion of fructose-6-phosphate into N-acetylglucosamine-6-phosphate, a precursor for the production of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine. This process links glucose metabolism to the regulation of cellular signaling pathways and gene expression, influencing various physiological processes. Dysregulation of GFAT1 activity has been implicated in metabolic disorders, including hyperglycemia-induced insulin resistance, which is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes. GFAT1 serves as not only a critical enzyme in metabolic pathways but also a potential therapeutic target for managing type 2 diabetes and related conditions.
