Gemin2 Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Gemin2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gemin2, also known as SIP1, is a crucial component of the survival of motor neuron (SMN) complex, which is essential for the assembly of spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) in the cytoplasm and their subsequent role in pre-mRNA splicing within the nucleus. Gemin2 directly interacts with SMN, facilitating the formation of the SMN complex that is vital for proper gene expression and RNA processing. This complex is predominantly located in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus, where Gemin2 concentrates in subnuclear structures known as gems, which are critical for the storage and assembly of snRNPs.
