    Gemin2 Antibody (1G9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Gemin2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Gemin2 (1G9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gemin2 plays a crucial role in the assembly of spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), which are essential for pre-mRNA splicing, a fundamental process in gene expression regulation. Located in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, Gemin2 is particularly concentrated in subnuclear structures known as gems, which are involved in the storage and assembly of snRNPs. Gemin2′s interaction with the survival of motor neuron (SMN) complex, which includes proteins such as Gemin3, Gemin4, Gemin5, and Gemin6, is vital for proper functioning of the spliceosome. Disruption of this complex is implicated in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a severe neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of motor neurons. Gemin2 is expressed in various tissues, with notable expression in the spinal cord, and Gemin2 levels can be influenced by factors such as TGFβ treatment, highlighting a potential role in cancer biology, particularly in E-cadherin negative human carcinoma cell lines.

    We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems.
