GDNF Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GDNF (B-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GDNF plays a crucial role in the survival and differentiation of midbrain dopaminergic neurons, which are essential for motor control and are significantly affected in conditions like Parkinson′s disease. GDNF is primarily secreted and acts on neurons through GFRα1 receptor, which is located on the surface of target cells. This interaction is vital for neuronal health, as GDNF activates signaling pathways that promote cell survival and growth. GDNF′s location in the extracellular space allows effective binding to receptors and exerts neuroprotective effects, making GDNF a key player in neurodevelopment and potential therapeutic target for neurodegenerative diseases.

Can we use sc-13147 for IF and WB to detect GDNF in rat hippocampus (using either brain slices or brain tissue)? If yes, are there any published papers on this using this antibody? I couldn't find any. Thanks!

Thank you for your question. We have not tested this antibody for rat hippocampus. We validate this antibody for mouse, rat and human samples .
