GDF-5 Antibody (A-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects GDF-5 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GDF-5 antibody (A-10) is available as the non-conjugated form. GDF-5, also known as growth/differentiation factor 5, plays a crucial role in bone formation and is predominantly expressed in long bones during fetal development, making GDF-5 essential for proper skeletal development. GDF-5 is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily, which is known for involvement in various biological processes, including embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. Notably, GDF-5 has been shown to induce plasminogen activator activation, promoting angiogenesis, which is vital for supplying nutrients and oxygen to developing tissues. Mutations in GDF-5 have been linked to skeletal abnormalities, such as the brachypodism mutation in mice, which affects limb bone length and number. Additionally, GDF-5 shares structural similarities with other growth/differentiation factors, including GDF-6 and GDF-7, highlighting GDF-5′s importance in skeletal and tissue development.
