SEE ALSO...

GDF-11 Antibody (X-19) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GDF-11 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GDF-11 antibody (X-19) is offered in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile use in various experimental setups. GDF-11, a crucial member of the Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) superfamily, plays a significant role in regulating anterior/posterior patterning of the axial skeleton and organogenesis by modulating the expression of genes such as Gdnf. Notably, GDF-11 is involved in the phosphorylation of Smad2, a key step in TGF-β signaling pathways, which are essential for proper cellular communication and developmental processes. Additionally, GDF-11 mediates Nodal signaling during left-right patterning and is critical for the development of head structures. GDF-11′s inhibitory effect on the generation of new neurons from progenitor cells in the olfactory epithelium highlights GDF-11′s importance in neurogenesis and the maintenance of neural stem cell populations. GDF-11′s ability to influence such diverse biological processes underscores GDF-11′s significance in developmental biology and potential implications in regenerative medicine.

This antibody is predicted to cross react with GDF8 ?.

Asked by: Paolo61
Thank you for your question. GDF-11 Antibody (X-19): sc-81952 has been raised against recombinant GDF-11 of human origin. We have no data indicating whether or not GDF-11 Antibody (X-19): sc-81952 reacts with GDF8 as well. As both proteins share little homology, it is unlikely that the antibody would recognize GDF8. Please contact our technical service for more information or to arrange for a free sample of this antibody to test it in your application.
