Gas8 Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Gas8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gas8 (G-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gas8 protein, also known as growth arrest-specific 8 or Gas11, is a 478 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular processes by localizing to the Golgi apparatus, cytoplasm, and flagellar basal body. Such localization enables Gas8 to function as a cytoskeletal linker, binding to microtubules and potentially regulating dynein activity, which is essential for cellular motility and division. Gas8 is predominantly expressed in liver, heart, and skeletal muscle, with lower expression levels in lung, brain, kidney, and placenta. Gas8′s involvement in spermatozoa motility highlights its importance in male fertility, as defects in Gas8 may lead to infertility in males lacking gametocytes. Additionally, Gas8′s encoding gene is located on human chromosome 16, a region often deleted in breast and prostate cancers, suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis.
