γS-crystallin Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects γS-crystallin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-γS-crystallin antibody (A-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Crystallins, which are essential structural proteins found in the vertebrate eye, play a critical role in maintaining lens transparency and refractive index during accommodation. Specifically, γS-crystallin, also known as Beta-crystallin S, is a 178 amino acid protein characterized by a unique two-domain beta structure and is classified within the beta/gamma-crystallin gene family located on human chromosome 3. γS-crystallin exists as a stable monomer, which prevents aggregation that can lead to lens opacification.
