GalNAc-T14 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GalNAc-T14 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GalNAc-T14 (A-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GalNAc-T14, also known as UDP-N-acetyl-α-D-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 14, plays a crucial role in initiating mucin-type O-linked glycosylation, a process vital for protein stability, cell signaling, and protective mucosal barrier formation. This 552 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein is primarily localized in the Golgi apparatus, where GalNAc-T14 utilizes calcium and manganese as cofactors to transfer N-acetylgalactosamine to serine and threonine residues on target proteins. A Ricin B-type lectin domain in GalNAc-T14′s structure suggests specific interaction with carbohydrate moieties, essential for substrate specificity. GalNAc-T14 is highly expressed in fetal and adult kidney tissues and exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, highlighting GalNAc-T14′s importance in developmental processes and potential implications in kidney function and disease.
