    SEE ALSO...

GALK1 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GALK1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GALK1 (A-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Galactose kinase (GALK1), also known as galactokinase, plays a vital role in the first step of the galactose metabolism pathway, converting galactose into galactose-1-phosphate, which is essential for energy production and the synthesis of biomolecules. This enzymatic activity is crucial because defects in the GALK1 gene can lead to galactosemia II, an autosomal recessive disorder that manifests in infancy with congenital cataracts, often appearing within the first two weeks of life. In adults, the accumulation of galactitol due to impaired GALK1 function can result in presenile cataracts, highlighting the importance of GALK1 in maintaining ocular health. Anti-GALK1 antibody (A-2) effectively detects and quantifies GALK1 across different species, making this reagent an invaluable tool for research into galactose metabolism and related disorders.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-393404 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
