galectin-4 Antibody (F-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Galectin-4 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Galectin-4, also known as Gal-4, L36, or LGALS4, is a member of the galectin family, which consists of soluble β-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in various biological processes, including cell adhesion, tumor progression, and apoptosis. Galectin-4 is composed of 323 amino acids and features two homologous carbohydrate recognition domains, which are essential for binding activity and functional versatility. Notably, Galectin-4 is primarily expressed in epithelial cells of the colon, rectum, and intestine, and expression levels are closely associated with the malignant potential of human hepatocellular carcinoma. Galectin-4 expression is influenced by factors such as cell-cell contact, serum growth factors, and the differentiation status of cells, making anti-Galectin-4 antibody (F-1) a significant marker in cancer research. Notably, Galectin-4 is underexpressed in colorectal cancer, yet preferentially upregulated in cells prone to peritoneal dissemination, highlighting Galectin-4′s potential as a therapeutic target and biomarker for disease progression.
