SEE ALSO...

GAL4-TA Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GAL4-TA protein of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GAL4-TA (A-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GAL4-TA functions as a crucial transcriptional activator, regulating gene expression in response to galactose. The transcriptional activation domain, spanning C-terminal amino acids 768-881, activates GAL genes including GAL1, GAL2, GAL7, GAL10, and MEL1, which is essential for galactose metabolism. The N-terminal 147 amino acid residues of GAL4-TA exhibit specific and strong DNA binding properties, making this fragment valuable for studying transcriptional activation functions of various heterologous proteins. GAL4-TA′s unique properties have enabled development of "two-hybrid" systems in yeast for identifying specific protein-protein interactions, highlighting GAL4-TA′s significance in molecular biology research.

Can GAL4-TA (A-2): sc-46680 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, GAL4-TA (A-2): sc-46680 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
