GABAA Rε Antibody (E-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GABAA R epsilon protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GABAA Rε (E-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GABAA R epsilon protein plays a crucial role in the central nervous system as a component of the GABAA receptor, which is essential for mediating inhibitory neurotransmission. This receptor is primarily located in the postsynaptic membrane of neurons, where binding with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) facilitates chloride ion influx, leading to neuron hyperpolarization and decreased neuronal excitability. Proper functioning of GABAA receptors, including GABAA R epsilon subunit, is vital for maintaining balance between excitation and inhibition in the brain, which is critical for processes such as anxiety regulation, muscle relaxation, and seizure prevention. Dysregulation of GABAA receptor activity has been implicated in various neurological disorders, making anti-GABAA R epsilon antibody (E-12) particularly important for studying interactions with other proteins, such as GAD-65 and GAD-67, to understand and potentially treat these conditions.
