SEE ALSO...

G2A Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects G2A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). G2A (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. G2A, also known as G Protein-Coupled Receptor 132, plays a crucial role as a seven transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor that is upregulated in response to DNA damage and cellular stress, highlighting its importance in cellular signaling pathways that govern cell survival and proliferation. G2A is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic tissues, particularly in hematopoietic stem cells and pro-B cells, with lower levels found in immature B cells and pre-B cells. Expression is also observed throughout T cell maturation and significantly increases upon T-cell activation, indicating involvement in immune responses. Notably, ectopic expression of G2A fusion protein in NIH/3T3 fibroblasts induces cell cycle arrest at the G2/M transition, suggesting a regulatory role in cell cycle progression. G2A has been implicated in anti-oncogenic activity, as G2A can attenuate the proliferative effects of the Bcr-Abl oncogene, which is associated with certain leukemias. G2A contains a destruction box motif, essential for ubiquitination and subsequent proteolytic degradation, a feature commonly found in cyclins that regulates cell cycle dynamics. As a high-affinity receptor for lysophosphatidylcholine, G2A is part of the lysophospholipid receptor subfamily, underscoring its significance in lipid signaling and cellular communication.

I am using G2A (G-5): sc-137112 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
