Datasheets
  • Frataxin Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a κ provided at 200 µg/ml
  • raised against amino acids 56-210 mapping at the C-terminus of Frataxin of human origin
  • recommended for detection of Frataxin of human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for Frataxin Antibody (C-2) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with Frataxin Antibody (C-2) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

Frataxin Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects frataxin in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Frataxin is a crucial mitochondrial protein that plays a significant role in iron metabolism, specifically in iron storage and regulation within the mitochondria. Anti-frataxin antibody (C-2) binds iron atoms—up to 10 iron atoms per molecule of frataxin polymer—highlighting frataxin′s importance in maintaining cellular iron homeostasis, which is vital for various metabolic processes. Proper functioning of frataxin is essential, as deficiencies or mutations in the frataxin gene can lead to severe neurodegenerative disorders like Friedreich ataxia, characterized by progressive loss of motor function and sensory perception. Additionally, frataxin is expressed in tissues with high metabolic demands, such as the heart, liver, and brown fat, underscoring frataxin′s critical role in energy production and mitochondrial health. Frataxin monoclonal antibody (C-2) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying mitochondrial function, iron metabolism, and related pathologies.
