FOXRED1 Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects FOXRED1 (FAD-dependent oxidoreductase domain-containing protein 1) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FOXRED1 is a 486 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that utilizes flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) as a cofactor, playing a crucial role as a chaperone protein essential for the proper functioning of mitochondrial complex I. The importance of FOXRED1 lies in its involvement in mitochondrial energy production; mutations in the FOXRED1 gene can lead to mitochondrial complex I deficiency (MT-C1D), which is associated with a spectrum of clinical conditions ranging from severe neonatal diseases to adult-onset neurodegenerative disorders. Common phenotypes linked to MT-C1D include cardiomyopathy, liver disease, Leigh syndrome, Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, and certain forms of Parkinson′s disease. The FOXRED1 gene is located on human chromosome 11q24.2, a region known for its high density of gene and disease associations, comprising approximately 135 million base pairs and 1,400 genes. FOXRED1 exists in three alternatively spliced isoforms, highlighting its complex regulation and potential functional diversity, making anti-FOXRED1 antibody (D-4) an invaluable tool for researchers studying mitochondrial function and related pathologies.
