FLVCR Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FLVCR protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FLVCR (C-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FLVCR protein, consisting of 555 amino acids, is encoded by the human gene FLVCR and functions as a multi-pass membrane protein within the major facilitator superfamily, specifically the Feline leukemia virus subgroup C receptor family. One of the critical roles of FLVCR is involvement in the exportation of cytoplasmic heme groups, which is essential for protecting developing erythroid cells from heme toxicity. This function is particularly important as excessive heme accumulation can lead to oxidative stress and cellular damage, thereby impacting erythropoiesis. Additionally, FLVCR expression in cells has been shown to increase susceptibility to Feline leukemia virus subgroup C in vitro, highlighting relevance in viral pathogenesis. FLVCR is predominantly expressed in all hematopoietic tissues, including peripheral blood lymphocytes and fetal liver, with some expression also noted in the pancreas and kidney. Notably, FLVCR expression is down-regulated in hematopoietic progenitor cells as they undergo differentiation and hemoglobinization, indicating a regulatory role in erythroid development.
