Flotillin-1 Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Flotillin-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Flotillin-1 antibody (C-7) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Flotillin-1 plays a crucial role in forming and maintaining lipid rafts, specialized membrane microdomains rich in sphingolipids and cholesterol, essential for signal transduction, membrane trafficking, and molecular sorting. These lipid rafts serve as platforms for assembling signaling complexes, influencing cellular responses to external stimuli. Flotillin-1, a member of the band 7.2/stomatin protein family, has a hydrophobic N-terminal region forming a transmembrane domain, integrating into the lipid bilayer. Expression is particularly prominent in A498 kidney cells, muscle cell lines, and fibroblasts, where Flotillin-1 interacts with proteins like CAP and Cbl to localize signaling complexes to lipid raft subdomains of the plasma membrane. Notably, Flotillin-1 and Flotillin-2 expression levels are independently regulated, with Flotillin-2 being more ubiquitously expressed. Flotillin-1 association with estrogen receptor X (ER-X) facilitates rapid activation of the MAP kinase cascade, highlighting significance in cellular signaling pathways. Alterations in Flotillin-1 expression have been linked to Alzheimer′s disease progression, underscoring relevance in neurodegenerative conditions.
