Flotillin-1 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Flotillin-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Flotillin-1 antibody (C-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Flotillin-1 plays a crucial role in forming and maintaining lipid rafts, which are specialized membrane microdomains rich in sphingolipids and cholesterol. These lipid rafts are essential for various cellular processes, such as signal transduction, membrane trafficking, and molecular sorting, making Flotillin-1 vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and facilitating communication between cells. Flotillin-1 is predominantly localized in plasma membrane, where Flotillin-1 interacts with other proteins to form complexes critical for cellular signaling pathways. Notably, Flotillin-1 and Flotillin-2 exhibit complementary tissue distributions and expression levels are independently regulated, with Flotillin-1 being particularly expressed in A498 kidney cells, muscle cell lines, and fibroblasts. Flotillin-1 associates with other proteins, such as CAP and Cbl, directing complex localization to lipid raft subdomains, thereby influencing activation of signaling cascades, including MAP kinase pathway. Furthermore, flotillin expression has been linked to Alzheimer′s pathology progression, highlighting flotillins′ potential role in neurodegenerative diseases.
