SEE ALSO...

FKBP2 Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FKBP2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-FKBP2 antibody (D-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FKBP2, also known as FK506-binding protein 2 or PPIase (Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase), is a 142 amino acid enzyme that plays a crucial role in protein folding by catalyzing the cis-trans isomerization of imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. This enzymatic function is vital for proper folding and functioning of proteins, which is essential for cellular homeostasis and response to stress. FKBP2 is predominantly localized to the endoplasmic reticular membrane and is highly expressed in the thymus and T-cells, where FKBP2 acts as an immunophilin, serving as an intracellular receptor that is inhibited by immunosuppressant drugs such as FK506 and rapamycin. Additionally, FKBP2 interacts with specific proteins, including BIG1, a guanine nucleotide exchange factor, and the C-terminus of 4.1G, a protein that stabilizes spectrin-actin binding, highlighting its importance in cellular signaling and structural integrity. The gene encoding FKBP2 is located on human chromosome 11, which is associated with various genetic disorders, including Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome and Jacobsen syndrome, underscoring the significance of FKBP2 in both health and disease.
