FIR Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FIR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FIR (E-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FIR protein plays a crucial role in regulating c-myc gene expression, which is essential for cell proliferation and growth. FIR acts as a negative regulator by binding to FUSE-binding protein (FBP) and inhibiting FBP′s ability to activate c-myc transcription. This interaction is vital because c-myc drives many cellular processes, including cell cycle progression and apoptosis, and c-myc dysregulation is often implicated in various cancers. FIR is predominantly expressed in tissues such as spleen, thymus, prostate, small intestine, colon, and peripheral blood leukocytes, with particularly high levels found in testis and ovary, highlighting FIR′s importance in reproductive biology and cellular regulation.
